What AC adapter works with the specialty lites?
Radio Shack offers an adapter that works with 1.5-12V lites, model number 273-1662. It’s available at Radio Shack stores or on-line at www.RadioShack.com.

Can I order a configuration that is not shown?
Special configurations are not available at this time.
Are matching dimmer knobs available for all wallplates?
Dimmer knobs are available in brass, white ceramic, red oak wood, unfinished wood, white and almond plastic.

Are halogen lights dangerous?
No. Halogen lights provide more light with lower voltage bulbs to save energy. While they do operate hotter than incandescent lights, caution should be used when handling any bulb that has been operating and therefore is hot to the touch.
Can the cable connectors for the 12V halogen and xenon accent lights be cut to length?
No, these cables are not designed to be cut to length. The 120V system (part number) does allow lights to be spaced at varying intervals by simply tapping onto the cable. Always read and follow directions carefully.
What size transformer is used with the halogen and xenon accent lighting systems?
The size of the transformer needed depends on the number of accent lights that are being used. A 60W 11.5V transformer will safely operate up to (3) 20W or (6) 10W halogen or xenon accent lights. A 120W 11.5V transformer will operate up to (6) 20W or (12) 10W lights halogen or xenon lights.
Why can’t a halogen bulb be touched?
Hot halogen bulbs should never be touched or a severe burn could result. Halogen bulbs are made from silicon which reacts to the oils in your hands causing the bulb to burn out prematurely.
Can UB halogen cabinet lights be interconnected?
Yes using WIREMOLDŽ brand 500 wire raceway and hi-temp hook-up wire.
What size bulbs are used in Fluorescent Ultra Lights?
Westek 8W and 16W T4 type bulbs are recommended.
Does an electrician need to install hard wire lights?
All work involving electricity should be done with caution however installing hard wire under cabinet lights can be done by a do-it-yourselfer. Always read and follow directions carefully. Be sure to follow NEC and local building codes.
How do Xenon and Halogen bulbs differ?
Halogen bulbs are filled with a blend of gasses (mostly Halogen) under high pressure.  Xenon bulbs are filled with a blend of gasses (including Xenon) under very low pressure. The cost of Xenon gas is much greater than Halogen, which is why they are, on average, 4 times more expensive. Xenon bulbs, however, last 2 ˝ times longer than Halogen, provide whiter, more natural light and run cooler than Halogen making them a very good value.
