Why is my Dusk-to-Dawn Nite Lite™ not working correctly?

Dusk-to-Dawn Nite Lites™ have a sensor that measures ambient light (also known as available light levels) in the room. When the light level in the room decreases to a preset “ON” level the sensor turns the Nite Lite™ on. When the room light level increases to a preset “OFF” level the sensor turns the Nite Lite™ off. If there are objects in front of the sensor they can affect the operation of the Nite Lite™. If the object blocks the Nite Lite™, the Nite Lite’s™ bulb may turn on when the room light is still high, or it may stay on.

Flickering can also occur with Nite Lites™ when ambient room light levels in a room are close to the Turn ON/OFF levels. In this case, light reflected from the Nite Lite™ bulb into the sensor, causes, just enough illumination on the sensor that the reflected light added to the ambient light causes the Nite Lite™ to turn on and off rapidly. This may occur for a short time until the ambient light is low enough that the added light from the sensor is not enough to cause the Nite Lite™ to turn off, then the Nite Lite™ will work properly in the dark room.

Does the Power Failure Lite™ (71134CC, 71134NB, 71134LA) have a Nite Lite™ function?
No. This product functions as both a Flash Light and a Power Failure/24 Hour Guide Light. It does not have a Nite Lite™ function.

Are the bulbs in my Nite Lite™ replaceable?

Replaceable

The bulbs in incandescent Nite Lites™, containing either 4 Watt or 7 Watt bulbs are replaceable. These Nite Lites™ use a size C7 bulb often called a Nite Lite™ Bulb.

• 71063LC – 4 Watt Replacement Bulbs
• 71062LC – 7 Watt Replacement Bulbs

The bulbs in the 73060 Moon Lites™ can be replaced with a 2.4V bulb.

The bulbs in the 73061 Moon Lites™ can be replaced with a 4.8V, 0.5a bulb.

Non Replaceable

LED and Neon Nite Lite™ bulbs are not replaceable.

The bulbs in the 73057 Moon Lites™ are not replaceable.

The bulb in the 6” (73025CC) and 12” (73040CC) Plug-In Fluorescent Lites™ are not replaceable.

The bulb in the Rechargeable Power Failure Lite™ (71138CC) is not replaceable.

What is the life expectancy of the LED Forever Glow Nite Lite™?
(71080, 71081, 71281, 71282, 71282LA, 71382, 71083, 71083BBB)
The lamp should operate for a minimum of 1 year.

How many colors does the Color Changing Cylinder Nite Lite™ (73107) have?
The manual push button version has 3 colors to choose from. The automatic version has a kaleidoscope of 7 colors.

What kind of batteries does the Book Lite™ (75065) use?
This product uses three (3) AG13 or LR44 batteries.

Can you paint the 6 Pack Candles (75206) and the 4 Pack Votive Candles (75209)?
Yes, you can paint the candles as long as you do not paint where the light connects to the charger.

What kind of battery does the 6 Pack Candles (75206) and the 4 Pack Votive Candles (75209) have and how many times can it be charged?
The battery is a NiMH (nickel metal hydride), and they can be fully charged over 350 times.

Are the candles on the 6 Pack Candles (75206) and the 4 Pack Votive Candles (75209) UL Listed?
The candles are not UL Listed because battery operated products do not require certification. The charging unit for the candles is UL Listed because it plugs into an electric outlet.

How many Watts of energy do your LED Nite Lites™ use?
The wattage in our LED Nite Lites™ ranges from 0.3 to 0.5 Watts.

How long will the 12” Fluorescent Lite™ (73040CC) last on battery power?
If left on continuously, the battery life is approximately 2 hours.

What kind of wood is the 180/182 series Wallplate made of?
Alder Wood

Can I cut my Wallplate?
No, metal back plates should never be removed from any of our Wallplates.

Can I take the metal back plate off my Wallplate?
No, we do not recommend the removal of the metal back plate on any of our Wallplates.

Light Controls

Why is my Light Control blinking
SLC5 – Dusk-to-Dawn Light Control
If the Light Control is installed in a glass enclosed fixture, as the sun goes down, the control’s sensor eye detects that the light level is low enough and turns the light on. When the light bulb turns on, light from the bulb can reflect off of the fixture glass and back into the sensor eye. If there is enough reflected light into the sensor it will think it is light out (daytime) and turn the light off. Of course, now it senses darkness again, so the sensor turns the light back on. This event can happen repeatedly during this particular stage of dusk/dawn, which is why you see the light slowly blink on and off.

The package includes three lens caps for the sensor stem, each with a different sized hole to block the light. If you are experiencing such blinking, you should install one cap over the sensor to see if it eliminates the blinking. You may have to try each of the 3 caps until you find one that works for your unique fixture. Each cap blocks the reflected light and allows some ambient light (available light) through to keep the light bulb off when it is daylight out. There is a potential tradeoff to eliminating the blinking - the caps can cause the light to stay on longer than you might want in the morning, and could also cause it to turn on earlier than you’d expect in the evening. This is because less ambient light (available light) is now reaching the sensor, so it tends to think it is darker than it really is.

Why can’t I put more than 1 Light Control on a circuit?
You can try using more than 1 Light Control on the circuit, however we cannot guarantee they will work correctly; they may interfere with each other. Using more than one unit will not cause damage to the Light Control or the lamp being controlled.

Can Dusk-to-Dawn Light Controls (SLC5) be used indoors?
Yes, however it must have a clear view of natural light. It cannot be used under a lamp shade because it will block the natural light from reaching the sensor.

How can I test to see if my Light Control is working correctly?
Place a piece of black electrical tape over the eye of the sensor. This should cause the light to go on. To see if the light goes off, remove the tape and shine a flashlight directly into the eye. This should cause the light to turn off.

When you set the timer on the Outdoor Programmable Light Control (SLC6), what should you expect?
You can program the Light Control for 2, 5, or 8 hours. This means once the sensor determines it is dark enough to turn your light on – the light will then go off 2, 5, or 8 hours after the light turns on. It is not set for a specific time of day; rather, it is set to stay on for a specific number of hours after the light first comes on.

The packaging on the 150W Outdoor Flood Light Control for CFL Bulbs (OLC5CFLBC) says it is okay to use in damp locations. Is this product okay to be used where it will be exposed to direct rain?
No, this product is rated for dry or damp locations only and should not be exposed to direct rain. It needs to be shielded by an eave or awning, at a minimum, but a covered porch is preferred. Exposure to direct rain will damage the part. It should also be installed with the bulb facing down, not facing up where rain can collect in the socket.

What type of replacement battery should you use in the Wall Mounted Switch and Plug-In Receiver (RFK100LC)?
A23 battery

Can I use the Wall Mounted Switch and Plug-In Receiver (RFK100LC) with a fan?
No, the RFK100LC is not rated for use with electric motors. Use with a fan can cause damage to the switch over time causing it to be unable to turn power on or off. This remote switch is intended for the remote control of lights.

Can the Key Fob Transmitter with Plug-In Receiver (RFK106LC) be used outdoors?
The RFK106LC is rated for Indoor use only. However, AmerTac does offer the RFK306LC, which is rated for outdoor use.

Can the Stem Mount and Twist Lock Light Controls (AT15BC, LC120BC) be used with Metal Halide Bulbs?
Yes, the AT15BC and LC120BC can be used with Metal Halide Bulbs as well as other ballasted lights.

Can the Adjustable Sensitivity Light Control (6099, 6099BC) be used upside down?
No. The bulb must be facing up.

What kind of transformer should be used with the Address Light (AL301B)?
The Address Light is a low voltage unit. It operates in a range of 14 to 24 volts. A transformer rated 18 volts AC 10 VA is recommended. AmerTac’s transformer model # TF003B is designed to work with the AL301B.

Can the Address Light (AL301B) be hardwired?
Yes, it can be hardwired directly to your doorbell transformer.

Dimmers

What is the difference between the 3 Level Touch Pad Dimmer for Low Voltage Lights (A6043CS) and the Plug-In Touch Pad Dimmer (6043BC)?
A6043CS has a circuit which makes it compatible with most low voltage halogen and xenon lighting systems. The 6043BC is to be used with standard line voltage lighting.

Under Cabinet Lighting

Can the LED Under Cabinet Lights be dimmed?
The only dimmable LED Under Cabinet Light is the LSPD32KBCC Dimmable Puck Light set.

Are there any extension cords for LED Under Cabinet Light fixtures or pucks?
The LED32 Puck Lights are the only products that have extension cords. Available cords are: EC24B (24”) and EC48B (48”).

Are the bulbs in the LED Under Cabinet Lights replaceable?
There are no replaceable parts inside the LED Under Cabinet Lights.

How long does the Xenon Replacement Bulb (XC300XW) last?
Generally a xenon bulb lasts approximately 10,000 hours under normal use.

Can you recess mount the Xenon Low Voltage Puck Lights (XP/UC series), Xenon Line Voltage Puck Lights (XLV series), Halogen Line Voltage Puck Lights (ALV series) or Halogen Low Voltage Puck Lights (AL series)?
These Puck Lights are only approved for under cabinet lighting. They can be recessed mounted under a cabinet. They are not approved for recess mounting in dry wall, ceilings, or soffits.

Can you use a halogen bulb in a xenon fixture or vice versa?
Yes, as long as the voltage type is the same. Example: ALV00XB Halogen (120V) Line Voltage could be used for XLV30HCCC Xenon (120V) Line Voltage Pucks

Can Rope Lighting be cut?
No, under no circumstance should Rope Lights be cut. Cutting the rope light will expose you to bare wires sealed in the rope creating a risk of fire and shock. Also, cutting the Rope Light voids the UL Listing criteria and warranty.
