AmerTac Awarded 2011 North American Retail Hardware Association’s Gold Awards In Both Packaging and Merchandising Categories

The North American Retail Hardware Association, the hardware industry’s leading trade organization, awarded AmerTac their Gold awards for our Westek® Programmable Compact Fluorescent Light Control package and our Zenith® Consumer Electronics Accessories merchandising concept. These awards honor the industry’s most innovative manufacturers for their design and development of packaging, merchandising and point-of-purchase displays. Winners were displayed at the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas where awards were also presented at a special ceremony.

The Programmable Light Control (SLC6C) is a screw-in adaptor that automatically turns lights on at dusk and off at a user programmed time. It saves money and energy because the light is on only when needed. It also puts an end to forgetting to turn the light off and eliminates coming home to a dark house.

The award-winning package includes a large, green, triangular graphic that screams “Save Money & Energy” to consumers who are seeking to reduce their utility bills while helping the environment. The clean white card with subtle dollar signs, helps reinforce the money savings, while a green paper insert wrapped around the neck of the Control shows the potential annual savings the consumer could expect.

The Zenith Consumer Electronics Accessories line consists of Audio, Video, AV, Phone, PC and Remote Controls products. The entire program took Gold in the Merchandising category for its use of only 3 card sizes that makes it easy for retailers to merchandise and easy for consumers to shop. The color-coded dot graphics aid in defining the product sub-categories while the clean white packaging, copy hierarchy and easy to understand icons help consumers locate the exact product they need.

Judges for the awards consisted of retailers, wholesale buyers and packaging industry experts. While we like to believe that we develop innovative products, packaging and merchandising at AmerTac, it’s nice to have that validated by a group of our peers.
